Accessibility Counts

Your site is important.  So make sure people can use it, including people with limited mobility, low vision, impaired hearing, and so on.  There are technologies that make the web available to people with a variety of disabilities, and by following a few key principles, you can ensure that all kinds of people can enjoy your site.

Simple Accessibility Tips

1. Use”alt text” for images.

2. Use “headings” in the correct hierarchical order.

3. Make link text meaningful (not “click here”).

4. Do not use sliders to convey important information.

5.  Avoid opening links in a new tab or window.

6. WebAim offers a great further resource for accessible design principles

Making your site accessible is easy, and it’s the right thing to do.  It’s also the law, a requirement of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
